Online Dating is a way to help people who are not attached to find their other half with the help of New-Media. Using New-Media, this online dating program lets people to meet not only from their own country, but also people from all over the world. To name a few of these online dating websites, the first in my mind would be http://www.speeddate.com/. Another one would be http://www.singaporedatingonline.com/index.html. In short, no matter what sort of people you are, as long as u have internet access, you could have a chance to meet that someone you never dream of meeting. This is finding your true love rather than sitting pondering and waiting.

Sweet it may seem, but are all these stuffs real? I have a lot of question regarding this. Can you really find love based on just clicking and typing in the computers? What would you do if you found out that you are being conned or cheated? Through the computers, can you see through the person facial expression and the thoughts? Like what are they planning and have u people ever wonder what are the effects or rather will there be any problems arising? After all, to be more exact, you are just chatting with strangers, total stranger whom you have not met or seen before. How are you to know that people that you are talking do not have any motive behind all this? What makes the other party trust them so much? In Singapore, I am sure that there are many such cases of people which other motives leads to incidents like fraud and rape.

Over the past few years, most victims are mostly women. Guys would turn out to be nice and approach women randomly online, after a few conversation with the girl gathering sufficient trust in him, they would then exchange no and discussing a chance to meet. Throughout the meeting, those incidents that I mentioned above will generally occur. Though cases of these are fewer now, but I am sure there is no harm in reminding people who often go for such programs to know the precaution in meeting or rather chatting with a stranger. If you think the ratio of victims are women are higher and that it’s alright for guys to freely use it, think twice. Guys are not safe too. I would like to share with you people one news that happen one year ago and it’s about a woman cheating a guy 45,000 bucks. The news stated that they met in an online chat room. The woman promised to marry him and began asking more money from that guy. To read more of this news, u can go to http://www.reuters.com/article/oddlyEnoughNews/idUSSIN3861520070320

I am not objecting dating online. My overall conclusion is that you yourself should have the necessary precautions upon everyone you see online or people that approaches you online. In this virtual world, no one in the world is safe and everyone should have a guard against each other. It’s always no harm to play safe.

  1. I agree with Joey. I don't think that it's a good idea to date online. They might be cheating you, slowly and by the time you found out, it's too late. So a gentle reminder to people who are dating online, Be Careful!

  2. Hi.

I agree with the both of you too. Dating online might not be a good idea because of all the fraudulent claims and the rampant increase in number of people with ulterior motives.

Users of such online dating websites should really take extra caution when finding a partner. Be very wary of what information you give when the prospective user is sounding you out. Often, people are too eager to get attached that they neglect minute details which were often the elements that points to a scam.

Despite the undeniable fact that online dating has provided an alternative channel to singles who wish to get attached, it is still advisable to stay on the safe side. Afterall, what beats the chance of meeting your would-be partner over a 3-hour meal? Its where you can not only see the appearance of your would-be partner, but also observe his/her gestures and behaviour. The mouth can lie, but subconcious gestures are tell-tale signs that can save you from a disasterous match.

Thanks for providing good information on online dating. =)

  4. Even though I have never dated anyone online before, I know that it is just a waste of time. Falling in love with someone in the computer is like falling in love with the computer itself.

Seeing that many have been scammed before, it shows how disastrous online dating can be. Even though I agree that you should take precautions when dating onine, when you are in love, all goes...

I feel that we can online date only if we are sure it is just for fun.

  5. To me, online dating is a fun thing to do and it should be done by everyone especially us, teenagers. LOL.

If you think again, people online date to escape from their stressful life. Teenagers are usually stressful so they should try out online dating. I also feel that online dating is better than dating a real person for teenagers like us as we are still young and vulnerable and that we can take the experience and knowledge we gain from dating online to the real world. Getting dumped by an online lover whom we have never met before is better than to be dumped by somebody whom we know and see.

  7. I think it depend luck play a part too. We can deny that there some couples really get together through online dating. It is much more easy than those traditional matchmaking. Due to human nature, people will make use of this online dating to do something bad e.g. cheating young girls

  8. i think online dating is ok if it spills over to the real world, if not there is no point in having a relationship just online.

To me, online dating is somewhere you meet a person and maybe you get to know him or her better. But to actually be 'together', I would have to see the person in real life. I think being there in the physical sense is important.

I might as well get a dog if I can only be with the person online.

  9. I agree with Joey that guys also can get cheated by women, not just only women can get conned or cheated.
Dating online is perfectly fine to me however one must be cautious to whom wanting meet you after a few chats. Because many people act and behave differently in real life and online.

  10. Personally i feel that online dating is not the best way to find your true love. In online dating you are chatting with a stranger and you might not know the person true identity. The person might be someone from the same gender as you and you might not noticed it.This can cause quite alot of problems.

However, online dating can be also a form of entertainment like what Syahir so that someone can accompany you from feeling lonely.

If you want to date online think carefully unless you are desperate for love.

  11. Personally I feel that online dating is not really effective. You don't know how the party looks like in real life, even though if the person provided a picture. Also, there's no way to find out the true personality of the person.

  13. From the comments, I think there are two perceptions of online dating. One is a virtual relationship where both parties have never met each other and the second is a physical relationship where both parties have met each other.

I do not agree with virtual relationships where both parties have not met. This relationship is dangerous as both parties do not know the other person other than what they see online. The other person could be just a "character" created to cheat and conned on other people.

Physical relationship where both parties have actually met in real life, and probably went out before on dates, I won't disagree. If two persons have met online and found that they have a few things in common, they should meet up and see how the relationship progresses. One way to ensure one's safety is to meet the person in a public place, or better yet, ask a few friends to join your first meeting.

I think Joey summed it well that it is up to yourself to take the necessary precaution if you are to delve into online dating. Has anyone tried it before? Syahir sounds like he does :P

  14. Joey mentioned some useful questions to consider when dating online, but aren't those questions applicable to FTF dating too, eg questions on the person's motivation?

  15. Although i feel that the net is a great way to make international friends but I totally agree with Joey. We should really take necessary precaution when talking to be people online. Especially when it comes to online dating, you become very vulnerable when you start opening up to online strangers.

  16. Good information on the topic.
Lets treat 'online dating' as a checklist number of steps away from finding the 'right' one for those depending on this services.
We hate sweet-talkers.Caution upon meeting offline.

  17. it does apply to FTF meeting too. however, if you have a guard against him/her online, u should not have meet the person in the first place.

  18. I agree with brandon that you can expend your network of friends online and its dangerous or disaster if you met a professional liar who is out to preyed on you.

  19. I’ve already commented but didn’t include my name. So I’ll post it again.

I've read cases about people getting married in real life after dating online. One such example is the Second Life couple that was reported weeks ago in the local newspaper.

I do agree that you have to play safe as there are more cons than pros in online dating. However, it can also be the place where you find your future spouse!

Online dating is a feasible alternative.

  20. In my opinion, online dating is not so reliable. As when people want to know about someone, he/she must spend time to get along with each other in real life. Otherwise, everything is not real and no one can know if it is ture. However online dating could be a chance to get to meet someone, and in the future they still need to meet in real life.
